‘Sesame Street’ introduces family with gay dads in time for Father’s Day, Pride Month
“Sesame Street” introduced a family with gay dads in time for this year’s Pride Month and Father’s Day.
According to a Huffington Post report, the same-sex couple was introduced on the “Family Day” episode which aired last week on HBO Max.
“Nina (Suki Lopez) introduces her brother Dave (Chris Costa) and his husband, Frank (Alex Weisman), to Elmo and his friends. Joining the couple is their daughter, Mia (Olivia Perez),” it said.
On Facebook, actor and co-director Alan Muraoka said he was “honored” and “humbled” to be part of the “milestone episode.”
“Sesame Street has always been a welcoming place of diversity and inclusion,” he wrote.
“Love is love, and we are so happy to add this special family to our Sesame family,” Alan continued. “Happy pride to all!”
In March, “Sesame Street” also introduced two new muppets to educate children about race, stressing that despite differences, everyone is human.
