The "Great Wall" has never gotten in the way of David Licauco's love life.

The Filipino-Chinese heartthrob shared this during an online mediacon on Wednesday, when he was asked if he was familiar with the term used to describe a situation wherein traditional parents prefer partners who are Chinese/of Chinese-descent for their children.

"Yes, I mean I'm familiar with that, kasi 'yung mga friends ko meron silang 'Great Wall' -- 'yun 'yung mga Chinese families na medyo traditional, nagsi-stick pa rin siya sa tradition na 'yon," he told GMA News Online.

"But, luckily with me naman, with my family, they don't practice that," he added.

David said his parents don't mind who he dates, as long as that someone supports him, makes him happy, and takes good care of him.

"Wala, okay lang kahit sino i-date ko, as long as I'm happy," he said.

"And I think, my parents want someone who will take care of me and push me and support me in everything that I do. And for me, that's also what I want," he added in a mix of Filipino and English.

David had told Pep.ph last year that he was dating a non-showbiz Chinese girl, but said he was not necessarily disallowed from dating someone non-Chinese.

Recently, the Chinito Hearthrob was linked to Asia's Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose who played his love interest in the GMA rom-com "Heartful Cafe," which aired its final episode last month.

The actor, model and entrepreneur renewed his contract with GMA Network on Wednesday, July 7. — LA, GMA News
