Michael V.'s advice to young couples on how to have a happy and strong marriage: 'Always, always obey your wife'
Michael V. has been married to his wife Carol Bunagan for 27 years and during the "Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kwento" media con, he shared a piece of advice for younger couples who want to have a happy and strong marriage.
"Unang una stay in love. Stay fun, and always, always obey your wife," Bitoy told GMA News Online.
Gladys Reyes, who was also present at the virtual press conference, injected, "tama yan!"
"Pwede kang pumalag, magreklamo. Pwede kang maghain ng hinaing pero dapat sundin mo pa rin yung asawa mo," Bitoy explained.
[You can resist, you can complain, but you still need to follow your wife and keep her happy.]
Manilyn Reynes, who was also at the press conference, shared that she and her husband Aljon Jimenez are fans of Bitoy and his wife Carol's relationship, adding that they have learned a lot from them.
Meanwhile, Manilyn who plays Elsa, the love interest of Bitoy's character Pepito, also shared her secret to a happy marriage.
"Appreciate, understand, believe 'di ba? There isn't a hard and fast rule that comes with a perfect relationship but there are a lot of things we can do to keep it harmonious," she in Filipino.
"Kapag humirap at feeling ninyo pano ba? Kaya pa ba? Bumalik kayo lagi sa kung bakit ninyo pinakasalan ang taong ‘to bakit ninyo minahal," she added.
[When the going gets tough, and you don't think you can endure anymore, you should always think back to the reason why you loved and married your partner.]
Manilyn said couples will always find the answer to the the question on why they decided to love and marry the person they are with now.
"Nandun lang ang sagot doon. ‘Wag ka ng lalayo, ‘wag ka ng lumabas. Bakit ko nga ba siya minahal? Bakit ko nga ba siya pinakasalan, everything will be OK," she said,
[You will always find the answer. You don't need to stray far anymore. Think back and remember, why did you love your partner? Why did you marry him? And then everything will be OK.]
Manilyn has been married to her husband Aljon Jimenez since 1996. They have three sons together.
Manilyn and Bitoy, lead stars in "Pepito Manaloto," will still be appearing on the prequel "Pepito Manoloto: Ang Unang Kuwento." According to the actors, they will serve as a narrator in the series.
The prequel will premiere on GMA-7 on July 17 after 24 Oras Weekend. — LA, GMA News
