An orphaned student cried while remembering his late parents during his graduation ceremony for senior high school.

According to JP Soriano's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, Cris Somogoy from Quezon, Palawan was caught on video shedding tears while sitting all by himself.

The video was captured by one of his classmates, who said their class did a song number to thank their parents.

"Pakiramdam ko masaya din sila na kahit wala na sila ramdam pa rin nila na naka-graduate ako," Cris said in Filipino about his emotional moment.

("I feel that they are also happy that even though they are no longer here, they know that I have graduated.")

Cris was in Grade 7 when his mother passed away due to dengue complications, while he lost his father in 2014 due to nightmare or "bangungot."

His siblings could not make it to his graduation, so he marked the milestone without his family by his side.

Cris said, however, that he did not weep because he was feeling sorry for himself. Rather, he was overcome with emotion because he could feel his parents were there with him in spirit.

"Ma, Pa, thank you po. Kasi ito na po yung anak n'yo, ito na po si Cris, graduate na po. Ipagpapatuloy ko na lang 'yung pag-aaral ko po para sa inyo," he said. "Sana po makapagtapos po ako ng pag-aaral."

("Ma, Pa, thank you. This is your son, this is Cris, already a graduate. I will continue pursuing my education for you. I hope I can finish my studies.")

Cris already applied for a college in Palawan, where he will pursue a degree in nursing.
