Can Rocco Nacino, Carla Abellana and Max Collins forgive their spouses for infidelity?
Marriage is no picnic, and you'll soon get a taste of it in GMA-7's upcoming drama "To Have and To Hold."
During a virtual press conference on Tuesday, lead stars Rocco Nacino, Carla Abellana and Max Collins were asked if they had it in their hearts to forgive their significant others for infidelity.
Max, who is married to actor Pancho Magno, said "yes" but stressed that it's also up to your partner, as well.
"Ako, yes," the actress told Rose Garcia of Pep.ph.
"I feel like marriage or love is stronger than infidelity. But, syempre, that all depends on your partner, if your partner wants to be forgiven, 'di ba?"
Carla agreed, saying that forgiving someone can be difficult when it comes to infidelity but it also paves the way for healing.
"Ako, yes, definitely. Hindi naman madali 'yan for sure magpatawad kapag nagloko ang asawa, pero parte 'yan ng buhay."
Carla, however, stressed that forgiveness should not empower or give the other person an excuse to repeat their mistakes.
"Lagi ko nga sinasabi, si Lord nga, nagpatawad pa'no pa tayo?' But that shouldn't be a go signal or an excuse na aabusuhin dapat ng partner mo na, 'ay, ok lang 'yan, magpapatawad naman 'yan for sure," she said.
"Gawin na natin hindi rin naman dapat ganun pero para mabuo ka bilang tao at maging masaya ka ay kailangan mo ring magpatawad ng iba."
Rocco also emphasized that accepting your partner's flaws is something you agree to when they get married.
"I totally agree, I mean a second chance is part of the work that you have to put up [with]. Tinanggap mo 'yung promise sa isa't isa…You also have to face all the ugly traits or your partner and also pray that things can get better in time," he said.
"Pero, tulad nga nung sinabi ni Carla, porke't nagpatawad, 'yun na 'yun," Rocco added."
"A second chance means really embracing the flaws of each other but, of course, there's always a limit to it and, of course, it dies down din to bakit."
Rocco Nacino exchanged I Do's with his longtime girlfriend Melissa Gohing in January, while Max Collins tied the knot with fellow-Kapuso actor Pancho Magno in 2017. The couple just welcomed first child, a baby boy named Skye, in July last year.
Carla Abellana, on the other hand, is set to tie the knot with her onscreen sweetheart Tom Rodriguez this October.
The three are set to mesmerize viewers in “To Have and To Hold,” an upcoming Kapuso teledrama about marriage and love that knows know bounds. It's set to premiere on September 27 on GMA Telebabad. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
