‘Little Princess’ star Jo Berry shares how she’s dealing with loss of 3 loved ones

Jo Berry is choosing to have a positive outlook in life after losing three loved ones in the family.

In an interview with Cata Tibayan on “24 Oras” Thursday, the “Little Princess” actress said despite the deaths of her dad, brother, and grandfather, she tried to carry on.

“’Di naman na siguro ako magiging okay kagaya nung dati kasi may mga nawala na sa ’kin and parte ’yon ng buhay. Lahat tayo pagdadaanan ’yung gano’n. Siguro sa iba’t-ibang way lang,” she said.

[I may not be as okay as I used to because I’ve lost people and that’s part of life. We all go through that. Maybe just in different ways.]

“Ngayon, ako, imbes na nagpapakalungkot ako, mas pinipili ko na gamitin ’yon para mas maka-move forward ako with life.”

[Instead of being sad, I choose to use the situation as a way for me to move forward with life.]

Part of her ways to keep afloat is to stay busy during their lock-in taping for “Little Princess.”

“’Yon talaga sinasabi nila sa ’kin bago sila umuwi sa heaven. Ituloy ko pa rin kasi alam nila na masaya ako rito. Masaya ako sa ginagawa ko,” she said.

[That’s what they were telling me before they went home to heaven. They said I should continue what I’m doing because it makes me happy.]

Jo said she related to her character in the series because her father used to call her “princess.”

She added that just like her, Princess loved her family a lot and was determined to reach her dreams.

“Ever since bata pa ako, ’di ko naman nakikita yung sarili ko na little person,” she said. “Laging ang taas ng pangarap ko.”

[Ever since I was young, I never saw myself as a little person. I always had big dreams.]
