Megan Young reveals how her relationship with Mikael Daez stayed strong during her Miss World 2013 stint

Megan Young revealed how her relationship stayed strong with her now husband Mikael Daez even during her Miss World 2013 stint.

In an interview with Toni Talks, Megan revealed that Mikael played a big role in her joining the pageant.

Megan said she was already thinking about becoming a beauty queen a year before she joined and Mikael did not stop her but actually pushed her to go for it.

Mikael recalled telling Megan "Bakit hindi mo subukan? Kesa magkaroon ka ng what if tapos at the end of the day sasabihin mo dapat ginawa ko 'to sana."

Megan said Mikael told her that if she will be joining she should give her 1000% and never do it "half-baked."

She said despite the physical distance they had at that moment, she felt Mikael's support.

"Kahit 'di kami masyado nagkikita noon nafeel ko talaga yung support niya," Megan said.

Megan said Mikael helped her become her own person.

The couple both agreed that the physical separation they had that time was good for the both of them as individuals.

Megan revealed that during the finals night she heard a lot of her fellow candidates crying backstage over breakups and relationship problems.

At that point, Megan said he was talking to Mikael over text and that they were both strategizing on how she will win the beauty pageant.

"Enjoy lang ako dito, katext ko si Fofo, sinasabi niya 'mag-cascade ka kung sino puwede bumoto sayo,'" Megan narrated. "Nagsa-stratetgize pa rin kami, ano 'to laro?"

When asked how it feels to have a partner who is a beauty queen, Mikael said he doesn't think about those things.

"I'm not inlove with Miss World, I’m inlove with Bonez," Mikael said.

"If she’s Miss World in her work that’s something she could hold and something she could use in her job, with or without Miss World she's still Bonez to me and it was clear to me and I knew it was clear to her that I was inlove with Bonez and he was inlove with Fofo and everything else is fluff," Mikael added.

Megan said after winning Miss World in 2013, she received all the attention and praises but she said Mikael made her feel that she's still the same person. 

Mikael and Megan tied the knot in 2020 after being together for more than eight years.—JAB, GMA News.
