Sen. Grace Poe shares regrets after mom Susan Roces passed away

Sen. Grace Poe admitted to GMA news pillar Jessica Soho a few of her regrets now that her mom, veteran actress Susan Roces has passed away.

In an interview aired on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" Sunday, the politician admitted the demands of her job left her with little time to spend with her mom toward the end of her life.

"Kung meron akong pagsisisi, syempre yung trabaho sa politika, medyo demanding," the senator said.

"So yung naging oras ko sa nanay ko, nung mga bandang huli, mas kumonti," she said.

She even gave a piece of advice to KMJS viewers. "Sa mga magulang ninyo, sabihin niyo na sa kanila ang gusto niyo na sabihin kung sakaling mawala sila," she said.

When asked what it is she wanted to tell her mom, Grace's voice cracked and said, "yung maghipit na yakap."

According to Grace, her last conversation with her mom Susan took place a few days before her death, when the Foundling Law was enacted.

"Sabi ko, 'Mom, I have good news.' Naisa-batas na 'yung batas para ipakilala or to recognize 'yung mga batang na-abandona," Poe said.

To which her mother weakly replied, "Congratulations!"

"Siguro sinasabi niya sa tatay ko, 'O Ronnie ha tapos na ako dito. Hindi na apihin ang anak mo. Recognized na 'yan at 'yung mga ibang bata na katulad niya,'" she said.

The wake of the late veteran actress and Queen of Philippine Movies will be until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24.
