Lara Quigaman reacts to commenter who said she and Marco Alcaraz would break up next year

Lara Quigaman just shut down a commenter who told her she and Marco Alcaraz would break up next year.

On Wednesday, the Miss International 2005 said she came across a comment, which read: “Hintay lang kayo, next year, hiwalay na din kayo.”

Lara said she was saddened by how the public made jokes out of breakups “and what’s worse, others pa are waiting for other relationships to fail.”

Referencing memes that showed crying grooms, Lara said: “Marco cried on both of our weddings. Sa unang kasal nga namin sa Vancouver, humagulgol siya.”

She added: “Does that mean maghihiwalay kami dahil lang umiyak ang asawa ko sa kasal namin? And are some people really waiting and hoping for that to happen?”

Lara then reminded people not to make fun of others’ pain.

“With all [this] news of loss and breakups, let’s be kinder, let us put ourselves in their shoes and imagine what it would be like—if people made a joke out of our heartache?” she said.

Married to the actor for almost 12 years, the former beauty queen said being a couple wasn’t easy, but they tried their best to make it work with guidance from the Lord.

“We always pray and ask God to cover our relationship, we pray that we will never be complacent and think we are alright when we are not,” she said.

“We are not perfect and we know that there will be temptations and challenges all the time and we can only rely on God’s grace to keep us from falling and failing.”

Lara also advised couples who were having a hard time that things would eventually get better.

“God is gracious, give your frustrations and heartaches to Him. Nothing is too broken for Him to restore and make whole again, nothing too impossible for Him to fix,” she said.

In a previous post, Lara made a statement on equality, saying a happy life was not just composed of a happy wife. Instead, it should be “happy spouse, happy house.”

Lara and Marco tied the knot in a civil wedding in 2011 and a Christian wedding in 2012. They have three sons together. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
