50 fishermen dads in Bulacan receive Father's Day gifts from GMA Kapuso Foundation
Fifty fishermen dads from Bulacan received Father's Day gifts from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a "24 Oras" report Monday, among the beneficiaries was 63-year-old Johnny Lucapa, who sometimes work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. He is saddened by how fishing became so difficult now.
"Nung araw, ang hayop dito, napakaganda. Kahit anong oras ka lumabas ng ilog, tiyak may mahuhuli ka [pero] dumating ang ilang taon, biglang onti-unting nawawala ang hayop," he said.
("Before, animals here were healthy. You can get fish no matter what time you go to the river but after years, animals have become so few.")
"Simula nang magkaro'n dito ng mga pabrika, naapektuhan na ang ilog [Ever since factories were built here, it affected our river]," he added.
Lucapa has nine children so he strives to work hard no matter the sacrifices.
He, along with 49 other dads from Barangay Tawiran in Obando, received grocery packs, vitamins, life vests, and pants. They were also given free prostate-specific antigen tests and urinalysis.
According to New World Diagnostics' primary care physician Dr. Camille Detabali, men are advised to get a prostate-specific antigen test when they reach 40 years old.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
