Pauleen Luna recounts how Vic Sotto courted her: ‘Weird'

Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto have been married for six years. Looking back at their courtship, Pauleen described it as "weird" but also "sobrang smooth."

Asked about it in an episode of “Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel,” the TV host immediately blurted out that it was “weird” as it came unexpectedly.

Pauleen said she had already been with “Eat Bulaga” for seven years before she and Bossing even had a decent conversation.

“As in minsan, kilay-kilay lang. Parang ‘hi,’ ganun lang. He is super mysterious and so quiet, na like what I said, [he comes out as suplado], so parang medyo takot kami sa kanya,” she said.

“We respect him as our, you know, superior. I don’t think I need to talk to him so when we started to talk, it was kinda stressful,” she added.

According to Pauleen, the first time they talked was through email, where they exchanged photos from their Singapore trip with friends. They didn’t even have each other’s phone numbers then.

“He said ‘Can you send me the photo?’ Sabi ko, ‘I’ll send it to your email.’ Hindi pa naman uso yung mga iMessages nung time na ‘yon so sabi ko, ‘Can I get your email?’ That’s where he got my email.”

“After a while, he emailed me and then parang may nakita siyang billboard ko or something and then he sent it to me, parang ganun lang,” she shared.

Pauleen said their email exchanges continued until Bossing gave her his number. She initially found it stressful to reply to Vic, but realized a few moments after, that it should be okay.

“Nase-stress talaga ako. Sabi ko kay Ate Ruby (Rodriguez), ‘Bakit kailangan ko mag-reply?’ And then okay naman pala,” she said. “Friendly lang talaga, then we realized, we had a lot of things in common.”

“I guess yun nga, na-realize niya na normal din pala ito. Hindi pala siya artista kumbaga, and then we got along very well,” Pauleen said.

The TV host couldn’t pinpoint exactly when she noticed there was something more, but they did spend a lot of time on their own moving forward.

“Parang sobrang smooth," Pauleen said. "It’s just really a transition [from] we started to talk to each other more often. From going out na group kami, we started going out na kaming dalawa na lang.”

Pauleen said one of their avid supporters was Ruby, who worked as their “enabler” amid everything.

“Hindi naman sa gustong-gusto niya si Vic pero kaibigan niya talaga si Vic and she knows Vic. I guess maaga pa lang, she saw na ‘bagay ‘tong dalawang 'to' without even them knowing it.’”

Vic and Pauleen have been together for 11 years. They celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary last January.
