Rayver Cruz spills the beans on how he courted Julie Anne San Jose

Before they were JulieVer, Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz were best friends because they had the same interests, and their personalities just jived together.

As their relationship developed, Rayver made sure to properly court Julie Anne because he was raised to be a gentleman.

In an interview with “Updated with Nelson Canlas,” Rayver said he expressed his feelings by buying her coffee every taping day and visiting her dressing room.

Eventually, he asked both Julie Anne and her parents for permission to court her.

“Hindi ko naman tinatago. Nakausap ko na rin yung parents niya, nagpaalam ako sa dad niya kung pwede kong ligawan yung anak nila, and kung pwede akong bumisita paminsan-minsan. So nakakabisita naman ako, nakikita naman sa Tiktoks namin,” he said.

Rayver said that he asked Julie Anne and her parents "out of respect."

"Gusto naman nating lahat na do'n tayo sa tama," he said. "So like me growing up — kasi family man din ako — like alam ko yung values ng kung papano yung sa isang pamilya, so ang pinaka-importante talaga is magpaalam muna. Kasi kailangan kasama 'yan eh."

"Automatic kasi din sakin pagka mahal ko yung isang tao, mahal ko kaagad yung pamilya," he added.

Asked how she felt about the courting, Julie Anne said that it's one of the things she appreciates about Rayver, especially the fact that he asked for her parents' consent.

“[That] is very, very important for me especially like sa mga ganitong klaseng mga bagay,” she said.

“And ayun, masaya naman, happy lahat. Yun naman ang importante, masaya lahat,” she added.

Rayver and Julie Anne have been serving kilig for months now.

Last month, Julie Anne greeted Rayver a happy birthday and he responded by saying, "Mahal kita, Jules." —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
