Maxene Magalona honors Francis M. on his birthday, dedicates healing journey to him

Maxene Magalona paid tribute to her dad, Francis M., on what would have been his 58th birthday.

In an Instagram post, Maxene said that she had dinner with her brothers Elmo and Frank at one of Francis M.’s favorite restaurants.

“As a Dad, he always wanted us to experience good energy which was why making beautiful memories together was very important to him,” Maxene wrote.

The actress and mental health advocate also opened up about the late Master Rapper’s experience with trauma.

“My father was no stranger to trauma and experienced his fair share of pain and suffering all throughout his life. Just like most of us, he really didn’t know how to deal with it nor heal it,” she said.

However, Maxene added that Kiko was always optimistic despite his challenges.

“He kept transforming his pain into power by continuously creating different forms of art. He never gave up.”

Citing Francis M’s passing due to leukemia in 2009, she added, “Sadly, he passed away because there was also a part of him that kept betraying himself and what his soul truly wanted. So much negative energy got stuck and stagnant in his system that his physical body eventually got sick.”

Maxene is known to use her platform to champion both physical and spiritual health, as someone who is also working through Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD).

For these reasons, Maxene dedicates her continuous healing journey to her dad.

“This is why I want to heal myself as much as possible and offer my healing as a way of honoring my Pop’s spirit and legacy as well,” she said. “I love you, Pop. This is for you.” —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
