Anna Maria Perez De Tagle honors late grandmother and 'first vocal coach' Sylvia La Torre

Anna Maria Perez De Tagle-Kline took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late grandmother, Sylvia La Torre, the Queen of Kundiman.

She posted some family photos as well as a video of the two of them singing together.

The Disney star, who appeared in “Hannah Montana,” “Jonas,” and the “Camp Rock” films, said her grandmother was her first singing and acting inspiration.

“She was my first vocal coach and taught me all of her kundimans,” Anna wrote.

"Thank you for passing on your love of music to me and I will surely continue your legacy," she added. “Gone too soon but always in our hearts. Your song has ended but your melody will linger on. Love you Mama Cita."

The post’s comments section is filled with messages of love and condolences from fellow actors like Lea Salonga, Christy Carlson Romano, and Jules Aurora.

Anna is the daughter of Evelyn Enriquez and Archie Perez De Tagle.

La Torre, also dubbed as the First Lady of Philippine Television, “died peacefully in her sleep on December 1st at 7:02 a.m.,” her family confirmed with GMA Integrated News. She was 89 years old.

She is the voice behind the classic Filipino songs “Maalala Mo Kaya,” “Sa Kabukiran,” “Paskong Anong Saya,” “Waray Waray,” and many more. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
