Billie Lourd, daughter of Carrie Fisher, opens up about grief on mom's death anniversary
It has been six years since Carrie Fisher’s passing, but for her daughter Billie Lourd, it “feels like [two] but also like 705 at the same time."
On Instagram, the “Scream Queens” and “American Horror Story” actress posted a throwback photo of them and opened up about her grief despite the “most joyful” moments she’s been having.
On December 12, Billie gave birth to her daughter Jackson Joanne, her second child with husband Austen Rydell.
“Giving birth to my daughter and watching my son meet her have been two of the most magical moments I have ever experienced,” she said. “But with the magic of life tends to come the reality of grief.”
“My mom is not here to meet either of them and isn’t here to experience any of the magic. Sometimes the magical moments can also be the hardest. That’s the thing about grief," she added.
Billie said she wished that her mom was here, "but she isn't."
"So all I can do is hold onto the magic harder, hug my kids a little tighter. Tell them a story about her. Share her favorite things with them. Tell them how much she would have loved them.”
Billie then told everyone who is experiencing both grief and joy that she understands them and that they are not alone.
“Life can be magical and griefy at the same time,” she added.
Carrie Fisher died on December 27, 2016 due to a heart attack while on a flight.
