A few days after Bimby Yap turned 16, his mother, Kris Aquino, took to Instagram to pen a lengthy, heartfelt message dedicated to him.

Kris posted a 2022 and 2023 photo comparison of herself and Bimby, both taken during his birthday.

“Bimb, my [honey], [you] are the reason [I] can’t give up, and [I] continue fighting what at times feels like a losing battle,” Kris began.

“[But if there’s one thing [I’m] proud of, since the day you were born- 5 weeks early, weighing barely 4 pounds, [I’ve] kept my word, never breaking any promises [I] made to you,” she added.

Kris recalled the first time they knew of her first autoimmune disease back in 2018.

“[We] were so afraid of the possible 3rd — we were crying as we embraced,” she said.

“I’ll [never] forget forcing myself to reassure the [11-year-old] you that like your Lola: [I’ll] endure anything and everything to make sure you had me for as long as you needed me,” she added.

According to Kris, she has vividly remembered her prayer for God to give her life until Bimb officially becomes an adult in 2025.

“Please prepare him well for the lifelong responsibilities he’ll have when it’s his turn to be his kuya’s guardian,” Kris said.

“Just [two] more years, every year after[,] let’s treat as an unexpected gift from heaven,” she added.

Kris then thanked Bimby for being a dependable, responsible, and caring son as she fights her sickness.

“Thank you[,] Bimb for doing homeschooling from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. so that you have the rest of the day to help our nurses care for me,” she continued. “Because you’re the one who can so easily lift, shift, move, and position me when my inflammation is awful [and] my entire body hurts.”

Kris ended her post by sharing more positive traits of Bimby.

“Like what [I’ve] told you many times, in a perfect world, your Lola Cory deserved a bunso as unspoiled, no hint of brattiness, respectful, polite [and] affectionate to all, thoughtful [and] kind-hearted, obedient, masipag mag homework, marunong mag budget sa pera, and inuuna ang iba bago ang sarili like you,” she said.

“Kuya and [I] love you. People have said many times na maganda ang pagpapalaki ko sa inyo[,] thank you. But in all honesty, the [two] of you make me shine as a mom, with kuya and you[,] I feel just how REAL God’s love is,” she concluded.

In August 2022, Kris has been diagnosed with various autoimmune diseases and has been staying in the US for her medical treatments.

In an earlier report, Bimby said her mom is in “stable” condition and currently gaining back some healthy weight. —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA Integrated News
