'Puro ka cellphone': Iconic sermon lines from moms impart lessons to their kids

Filipino moms have many iconic "sermon" lines as they raise children throughout the years.

Some of these would be familiar to many of us, as seen on Cedric Castillo's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday.

It can be, "Puro ka cellphone!" or "Umuwi ka na naman dito, gutom na gutom!" and chances are you already heard it from your own mother.

If you are now a parent, you might have realized that many of these zingers spoke truth and now fully understand your mom.

That's what happened to May, Mary, and Mae Mary, a group of friends who are now young mothers.

"'Balang araw mararanasan mo rin iyong sagot-sagot.' Hayun na nga nararanasan na nga namin. Sinasagot na kami ng mga anak namin," they said.

And now that they have families of their own, the lessons they learned from their mother's sermons have become their blueprint as a parent.

"Pinapayuhan na lang po gaya ng pagpayo ng magulang din po," they said.
