Richard Gomez reveals how he and Lucy Torres got together

Richard Gomez shared the story of how he and his wife Lucy Torres got together!

On Bea Alonzo's latest vlog, the Kapuso actress quizzed Richard about their whirlwind romance after meeting in a shampoo commercial.

"We were doing that commercial for almost five years. And then on the last commercial sabi nung producer, 'This will be last of the series,'" he said.

"Na-sad ako, [sabi ko] hindi ko na makikita 'to ah," he added. "Sabi ko, type ko pala 'tong babaeng 'to."

Richard said he and Lucy were both seeing other people at that time. When the commercial ended, however, he began pursuing Lucy.

The actor said he flew to Germany back then to undergo fencing training, but the distance did not stop him from chasing his lady love.

"While I was there in Germany, separated na ako sa girlfriend ko, tinatawagan ko na siya nun. Wala pang cellphone dati nun," he said.

Richard said he would go to coin-operated telephone booths to talk to Lucy.

"Ang romantic nun," Bea commented.

"Romantic talaga," Goma agreed. "Tas biglang mamatay na lang 'yung [linya] tas maghuhulog [ka ulit] hindi na puwede kasi puno na 'yung lalagyan ng coins."

When he returned to the country, Lucy finally became his girlfriend on a September. And three months later in December, he proposed.

Richard was 32 years old at that time and Lucy was 21. She said yes—they were only dating for a few months, but Lucy long had a crush on him.

Bea then asked him if he did not ask permission from her parents, and Richard said he just stated his intentions.

"Hindi ko sinabi na, 'Puwede ko po bang hingin ang kamay ng anak n'yo?' Hindi, sabi ko, 'I'm going to marry your daughter.'"

Four months later in April, they got married. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

Richard and Lucy have a 22-year-old daughter, Juliana, who is a fencer like her dad.
