Alden Richards, Julia Montes open up on how they handle relationship arguments

Alden Richards and Julia Montes are not immune to problems in relationships.

In one of the scenes from their much-awaited film "Five Breakups and a Romance," the two get into an intense argument.

Alden plays Lance Sandoval, a happy-go-lucky guy, opposite Julia Montes' career-driven Justine.

In the scene, Justine accuses Lance of being drunk and also just having "f----- that woman." Lance denies everything.

In an interview on "Updated with Nelson Canlas," the stars were asked whether they had similar experiences as the characters' "hugot" were definitely felt.

Alden said that in arguments, he is the reasonable type.

"I'm that type of person na if I know I'm on the reasonable side—I'm not saying I'm right, but I'm reasonable, [and] I will fight for that reason," he said.

Asia's Multimedia Star added that for relationships to work, "hindi naman puwedeng laging may nag-bo-bow at may nag-bo-bow lang palagi."

Alden said he turns reasonable because in arguments, "parang integrity mo na 'yung at stake e."

He added, "Di ba parang gusto mo naman ipaglaban kahit papaano na hindi naman talaga 'yon 'yong rason, you just have to hear me out. Kasi ako, 'pag mali ako, I say sorry, I don't explain. I explain kung gusto ng explanation. Pero if I'm sorry, then I'm sorry."

Meanwhile, Julia is unlike her character Justine because she turns quiet in arguments.

"Siguro hindi ganun katapang. Medyo may ugali ako na hindi ako magsasalita, the more ako tahimik, the more ka dapat matakot kasi [the more akong galit]," she said.

"May ugali ako na ayoko magsalita kasi alam kong masakit, or parang feeling ko kasi mas masakit 'yung verbal than 'yung physical for me, iyon 'yong mindset ko," she added. "So pag words, takot ako. Para hindi ako makasakit, hindi muna ako magsasalita."

But when Julia reaches her breaking point, she admits that she could possibly hurt people even without yelling the words.

"Kasi first time mong maririnig sa akin na parang may feelings pala ako na, 'Ay hindi ka na pala OK, bakit ngayon ka lang nagsasalita?' Or 'yan na pala 'yung feelings mo, bakit ngayon mo lang sinabi?'"

Written and directed by Irene Villamor, "Five Break-Ups and a Romance" first made entertainment headlines last April when news broke that Julia and Alden will star in their first film together.

Aside from the scene showing their fight, it was also revealed that Alden and Julia also have a hot kissing scene.
