Bea Alonzo, Dominic Roque release statement on breakup

Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque have finally broken their silence on their breakup, confirming that they have decided to call off their wedding.

On Instagram, Bea and Dominic released a joint statement to address their fans and the public.

"After much thought, consideration, and care, we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement. It was not an easy decision. We wanted to have more time to carefully deliberate and pray about it, but there have been many speculations, questions, and insults," the statement read.

"Unfortunately some even confirmed out breakup without our consent, created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false, so we felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, for our peace of mind and our families."

The former couple asked for understanding that what they have gone through is an "extremely painful yet united decision."

"We sincerely request for everyone to kindly spare us from more cruel and very hurtful words thrown on social media," they said. "We kindly request to give us the privacy we need as we navigate our future lives with respect, kindness, compassion, and dignity."

Bea and Dominic began dating in January 2021. The Kapuso actress confirmed their relationship in August that year.

The couple got engaged in July and planned to get married this year, but just last week, Boy Abunda confirmed that they have broken up after rumors of separation spread online.

The King of Talk reminded the public that speculations are dangerous and asked them to be a little kinder with their words.

Dominic also defended Bea, telling everyone that she's a beautiful person inside and out and to refrain from bashing and hating on her. Beatriz Saw, Bea's close friend and "One More Chance" co-star, also stood by the actress.
