Mikee Cojuanco, Dodot Jaworski say they're not 'pakialameros' when it comes to on sons’ relationships: ‘We’re involved, supportive in a way’

When it comes to their sons’ dating lives, Mikee Cojuangco and Dodot Jaworski would rather call themselves supportive and involved, instead of "pakialamero."

On Tuesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the King of talk point-blank asked the couple if "as parents pakialamero ba kayo?"

Mikee responded first, asking her husband, "pakialamero ba ang tawag duon?"

"Involved," she quickly said.

“I think we’re supportive in a way,” Pasig City Vice Mayor Dodot followed.

According to Mikee, their family's communication is good.

“Kasi napag-uusapan namin, maintindihan nila, ine-explain namin sa kanila ‘yung halaga ng pagpili nang tama. ‘Yung halaga ng—’yung makakasundo ng other members of the family,” she said.

When asked if they tell their sons to bring their girlfriends over, Mikee said, “Maybe when they were younger, we used to say that.”

She continued, “Kasi para sa ‘min, lahat ng mga kaibigan nila, barkada nila, pumupunta talaga sa bahay, and I think nakita nila [na] maganda ‘yung mga result no’n kasi we know them when they talk about them, naiintindihan namin.”

“There’s a closeness that also happens with our kids when we know their friends. Siyempre alam nila na kapag importante ‘yung tao sa kanila, they will introduce them to us,” she said.

Dodot said that they do share their opinions with their kids.

“We brought them up in such a way that when they do introduce these potential friends or girlfriends to us, they also observe the interaction and they pick up from there. And so far, I think we’re both happy that our kids are seeing these nice girls,” he said.

The parents also do not fall short in giving their kids advice.

“Basta ang bilin ko lang sa kanila, while you’re young, you have to remember that you’re in a relationship because you want to be happy. And you’re supposed to support each other and not hold each other down,” Dodot said. “And if you can make the relationship flourish based on the principles of mutual respect and providing greater opportunities for each other, reaching your full potential, then OK. Why not?”

The couple has three sons: Robbie, Rafael, and Renzo.

Rafael is in a relationship with Sparkle star Caitlyn Stave, who, just like Mikee, is an equestrian.

“We get along. We enjoy her company,” Mikee said, talking about the young actress.

Earlier this year, Mikee and Caitlyn bonded over a horseback riding session.
