Ruffa Gutierrez marks late sister-in-law Alexa's birthday: 'I still can’t believe you’re no longer with us'
Ruffa Gutierrez took to social media Tuesday to mark what would have been the 39th birthday of her late sister-in-law, Alexa Gutierrez, who passed away in July 2024.
On Instagram, Ruffa shared photos of herself with Alexa and their family through the years.
"Today isn’t just the first of July — it’s Alexa’s birthday. As I write this, tears are falling down my face. I miss you so much, and I still can’t believe you’re no longer with us," she wrote in the caption.
Alexa was married to Ruffa's brother, Elvis. The former schoolmates tied the knot in 2015 and have two daughters, Aria and Ezra.
In her post, Ruffa asked Alexa to watch over all of them, especially Elvis, Aria, Ezra, Alexa's dad Joel Uichico, and the rest of her family.
"Happy birthday in heaven, Lex. You will forever live in our hearts. Until we meet again," she said.
Alexa passed away on July 27, 2024 after a battle with leukemia. She was 38 years old.
According to the Mayo Clinic, "leukemia is cancer of the body's blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system." It involves the white blood cells, with people with leukemia producing excessive amounts of it.
