Mika Salamanca says her old singing videos were dedicated to her OFW mom
Mika Salamanca became the first Kapuso big winner of “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition," and with it came the resurgence of her old videos from her childhood, offering a nostalgic glimpse into the Mika we know today.
Among those that have gone viral were her videos singing some songs, such as “Sino Nga Ba Siya” by Sarah Geronimo and “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.
In a media conference for the Sparkle housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" on Thursday, the "PBB" big winner said that those videos from her childhood were made for her mother, Mommy Bambie, who was working abroad as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).
“'Yung mom ko po kasi ay isang OFW. Hindi po siya nakakapunta sa lahat ng mga events namin sa school. Wala po siya every time,” she shared.
“So ‘yung mga pineperform ko po sa school, vinivideo ng ate ko, ng mga pinsan tapos pinapadala sa kaniya kasi po through that mapapanood niya po ‘yung performance ko na siya lang or solo niya nang malapit. Kaya po para sa nanay ko po ‘yung lahat ng videos ko,” Mika added.
Mika also shared an update about her upcoming album, as she previously said that she wants to pursue music now that she’s in the outside world.
“Niluluto na po. And sobrang excited ko po at nandoon po ang ‘Sino Nga Ba Siya,’” the Sparkle star said.
Mika won “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition” alongside her duo, Brent Manalo.
She currently stars in “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” as Anaca.
