After viral Coldplay clip, CEO Andy Byron resigns from post

Coldplay concert

Andy Byron has resigned as the chief executive officer of US tech company Astronomer following a clip of himself and his colleague Kristin Cabot getting cozy at the Coldplay concert in Boston made the rounds on social media.

On X, Astronomer released a statement, saying "Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted."

"The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO," it added.

The tech company earlier released a statement saying it was going to launch an investigation after "Andy Byron" became the top search term on Google Trends Friday when videos of him getting cozy with Kristin Cabot at the Coldplay went viral. Cabot was said to be the HR head of Astronomer.

In its new statement, Astronomer said "Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met."

New York Post reports Astronomer is "an AI and data company valued at about $1.2 billion."

The publication added that Cabot was only hired in November last year, and that Byron "gushed" about her 20 years of HR experience and leadership skills.

Byron is said to be married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, while Cabot had been divorced from Kenneth Thornby since 2022.
