Claudine Barretto introduces herself as daughter of Rico Yan’s mom

Claudine Barretto is now part of the family of her late ex-boyfriend Rico Yan — and not as an in-law.

On Instagram, the actress shared a video of herself finally accepting the death of Rico and included old footage of her precious moments with the late actor to the tune of Ben&Ben’s “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay.”

In the caption, Claudine honored Rico’s mom Sita, who she said has finally accepted her as her daughter.

“It's not about Rico anymore," the actress began. "It’s about my love and relationship with his Mom, who now accepted me as her daughter.

According to Claudine, she and Rico’s sister Tina Marie and Geraldine are now “real sisters.”

“I can now say I am not just Claudine Barretto. I am now Claudine Barretto Yan, not a sister-in-law not a daughter-in-law but Sita Yan's Daughter,” she wrote in the caption.

Claudine feels blessed because Sita makes her feel loved every single day.  “What once was just forgiveness is now a real family,” she said.

The actress ended her post, saying Rico can rest in peace now as she and his family have each other from now on.

“RY you can now rest Hun. We now have each other to take good care of. You can now fly with your beautiful dimple faced smile,” Claudine said.

“As I let u go, I carry all the luv and beautiful memories with me in my heart till infinity and beyond.Rest now my sweet Prince. I love you, always have and forever till eternity and beyond will,” she ended.

Rico died of cardiac arrest due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis on March 29, 2002. He was 27 years old.

On his 22nd death anniversary in March 2024, Claudine paid a tribute to him by posting “March 29 my heart stopped" followed by broken heart emojis.

Claudine often posts about Rico on social media. In 2021, she shared the late actor's sweet love letter for her. She would also visit Rico's grave and celebrate his birthday.

In a 2018 appearance on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," Claudine admitted to having panic disorder, which for her was a result of stress from work, the death of Rico, and the shame of it all.

Some of Claudine and Rico's top films include "Got 2 Believe" and "Flames: The Movie." The longtime loveteam also appeared in the series "Mula sa Puso."
