Couple’s Batanes wedding pushes through despite Super Typhoon Nando
A couple's wedding in Batanes pushed through despite the looming threat of Super Typhoon Nando.
According to Ian Cruz’s report on “24 Oras” Tuesday, Madeleine and Amiel’s wedding trip started perfectly.
“No’ng first few days po namin sa Batanes, actually very sunny, mainit. Nakapag-tour pa po kami. The day before, doon nakita sa forecast na may paparating na bagyo. No’ng day of the wedding, wala pang ulan in the morning,” Madeleine said.
However, the forecast changed dramatically just the day before the ceremony, indicating an approaching typhoon.
“I was trying to be calm kasi tumitingin din po ako doon sa coordinator namin for cues kung kailangan na naming umalis,” Madeleine said.
Remarkably, the weather seemed to cooperate during the most critical moments of the ceremony.
“Actual vows namin, ‘yung I do’s namin, hindi pa umuulan. After naming mag-I do and kiss the bride, doon na. Bumuhos na siya,” she said.
Following the downpour, the guests and the couple ran for shelter.
For Madeleine and Amiel, this experience provided powerful symbolism for their new life together.
“Anything happens in our relationship, in our marriage, we can really weather through. Kahit anong storm pa ‘yan kayang-kaya lampasan,” Amiel said.
Nando left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on the morning of September 23.
As of Monday, the reported death toll for Nando and other recent tropical cyclones has reached 27.
