Dan and Phil confirm relationship, reveal they've been together since 2009

Dan and Phil have finally confirmed that “Phan” is real.

After years of speculation about their relationship, the YouTubers revealed that they've been together since 2009 in a 46-minute video titled, “Are Dan and Phil in a Relationship?”

As the video opened, Dan Howell said, “Alright, let’s get this over with. Are Dan and Phil in a relationship?”

Phil Lester answered, “Yes.”

They then talked about their relationship later in the video.

“We fell into it hard and fast in 2009 and here we are almost 16 years later,” Dan said.

“It was so fast that we never labelled it. We just ended up living together and here we are,” he added.

Phil said they are “partners in everything.”

“And no, it’s not always perfect. Don’t get into your head that we are the ideal of human partnerships,” he said.

Dan added, "We have had ups and downs like anybody. We have lived a thousand lifetimes of a normal person's partnership and I have no idea why we've survived."

In 2019, Dan came out as gay in a video posted on his personal YouTube channel, and Phil also posted a coming out video later that month.
