Sef Cadayona reveals how a breakup helped him rebuild a stronger relationship with his fiancee

When Sef Cadayona guested on the Father's Day episode of "All Out Sunday," his ex-fiancee Nelan Vivero posted a series of angry tweets on social media saying the Kapuso comedian was undeserving of his guest spot for the episode's theme.

"That time, we were recently broken up so emotions were running high," Sef said on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda Friday.

Saying "it was a lot to take," Sef admitted he was taken by surprise.

"Nagulat ako nung nakita ko yon," he said. And because he didn't know how to react, the Kapuso celebrity decided to keep quiet instead.

Besides, "she is the mother of my child. Hindi ako magsasalita ng anything against her," Sef reasoned.

But the incident turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Shortly after her social media outburst, Sef and Nelan decided to speak again to iron out their parenting arrangements for their daughter Anya and soon realized "na marami kaming hindi [nasasabi] sa isa't isa. Hindi na-ta-tackle yung problema."

He adds, "Nung naghiwalay kami, duon namin na-realize na kung nakapagusap sana kami, hindi kami aabot sa ganon."

The breakup also helped them realize they still wanted to fight for their relationship. "Ang laking tulong pala ng hiwalayan namin," Sef said. "Dahil duon lang namin napagusapan [yung mga dapat pagusapan.]

The two are back together again, he happily Tito Boy.

Sef first proposed to Nelan on Valentine's Day 2023 using a paper ring he made. Six months later in August 2023, he proposed a second time, popping the question at her house and asking permission from her parents. — LA, GMA Integrated News
