Mikoy Morales reveals he made a fake film to propose to his fiancée

Mikoy Morales reveals he made a fake film to propose to his fiancée

Mikoy Morales used his skills and connections as an actor to propose to his girlfriend, Isa Garcia, back in February.

On Instagram, the Sparkle actor posted a two-part video telling the story of how he produced a fake film and staged a "premiere night" to pop the question.

He said he got the help of his best friend Mikee Quintos and her then-boyfriend Paul Salas, who were doing a film together back then.

"Nung nag-usap kami ni Mikee, we decided na sige gamitin na natin 'tong opportunity na 'to. So the idea was we will make a movie that would seem like their movie in the beginning and then as it went on biglang boom proposal video na pala," he said.

Before anything else, however, Mikoy bought an engagement ring for Isa and asked her family for their blessing.

"Dumating 'yung ring ng mga November. It was only then when I got to talk to her family which was challenging kasi lahat kami naka Life 360 sa phone niya so alam niya kung nasan kami. So ang hirap gumawa ng perfect alibi para magkita kami ng hindi niya nakikita sa app," he said.

"Nung nakausap ko na silang lahat I made a group chat tapos that was when the actual planning began," he added.

Mikoy booked Sine Pop for an "intimate block screening" so Isa would have a reason to dress up without becoming suspicious. She simply thought they were attending the film premiere.

The film opened with Mikee doing a monologue, which was later revealed to be just a rehearsal. She was talking to Tricia, Isa's best friend, and Mikoy later enters to ask for advice on how to propose.

Isa's brothers, their partners, as well as Mikoy's brother and his girlfriend all appeared in the short film, reenacting the suggested proposal scenarios.

The screen later showed Mikoy making a speech about his love for Isa. He, Mikee, and Tricia then broke the fourth wall to talk to their real-life counterparts and told them what to do.

"The screen transitions into a background and then I lead her to the front. On the way, she realizes na lahat pala ng tao na nakaupo sa harap niya this whole time ay mga mahal namin sa buhay," Mikoy said.

"Then I get down on my knee and pop the question. Then she said yes, and then we celebrated, and it was a lovely, lovely night."

The actor said they are now in the middle of wedding preparations. The ceremony will happen in four months.

Mikoy currently appears as Agnem in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," which airs weeknights at 8:05 p.m. after "24 Oras." You can also watch it on YouTube via the Kapuso Stream.
