Manilyn Reynes reveals love story with Aljon Jimenez began on ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ set

On Thursday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Manilyn Reynes revealed that her love story with Aljon Jimenez began when they both starred in “Shake, Rattle & Roll 2.”

The Kapuso actress recalled that Aljon was the quiet type on set, while she was the talkative one.

“Alam niyo no naman ako napakahilig ko magkwento,” she said.

 “Si Aljon, talagang hindi maimik ‘yan, parang nagmamasid, very observant,” she added.

According to Manilyn, they developed a friendship from the time they both starred in a variety show, “That’s Entertainment,” and their relationship grew even deeper during their time shooting “Shake, Rattle & Roll 2.”

“'Pag ka mag-uuwian na kami, papunta siyang south eh, ako sa Quezon City, so magbubusina na ‘yan, so doon nag-start, para mag ba-bye ‘di ba?” she said.

Manilyn also recalled that their romance began when they were shooting a scene at the University of the Philippines and were asked to wait in the car before their turn to film.

“Si Aljon nasa may manibela, tapos biglang nag-holding hands kami,” she said, adding that it was awkward at first, but she did not want to let go of his hands.

“After noon, nagtatawagan na kami,” she added.

Manilyn and Aljon tied the knot in 1996 and have three children together.

Manilyn is set to star in “Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Evil Origins,” an official entry to the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival.
