Kylie Padilla on co-parenting setup with Aljur Abrenica: 'Sa akin 'yung kids 80 percent of the time'
Despite no longer being together, Kylie Padilla and Aljur Abrenica maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship for their sons, Alas and Axl.
In a latest episode of "Your Honor," the Sparkle star opened up about their co-parenting setup.
"Co-parenting kami. Sa akin 'yung kids 80 percent of the time. That's what I mean to say. Financial 80 percent ako pa din. So co-parenting pa rin naman 'yon," Kylie said, adding that the kids are usually with Aljur on weekends.
When it comes to financial expenses, she and Aljur have an agreed monthly amount.
"Sa financial OK naman kami on that part. May pinag-usapang amount every month. Pero nagtatanong din naman siya. Half kami sa school fees ganiyan. If ever may hospital feels, nag-o-offer naman siya. So OK naman," she said.
Kylie also shared that her parenting style had to change after she and Aljur separated.
"Dati practitioner ako ng gentle parenting. 'Yung dating set-up namin nurturer ako, disciplinarian si Aljur," the Kapuso actress said.
"Noong naghiwalay kami, triny ko pa ring ipagpatuloy 'yung gentle parenting, 'yung nurturing. Pero hindi puwede kapag dalawang lalaki. Pina-power trip nila ako. So talagang, I put down the iron fist kasi hindi talaga sila makikinig. Swear. Two boys kasi 'yung sa akin," she added.
Kylie also said she teaches her kids to process their emotions well.
"'Di ba may ano na 'boys don't cry.' Hindi ako naniniwala sa ganyan eh. Kaya 'yung mga anak ko they are very in touch with their emotions. Gusto ko naiintindihan nila ang emotions nila," she said.
According to Kylie, her sons also have a good relationship with their half-siblings—Aljur's three children with current partner AJ Raval.
"OK talaga kami. Atsaka alam mo ang reward sa akin, close talaga silang magkakapatid. Siyempre apat kaming magkakapatid alam ko 'yung bonding na 'yon. Gusto ko may ganon din sila," Kylie said.
She added that she doesn't want her kids to grow up having a strained relationship with their half-siblings.
"Kasi pahihirapan mo lang eh. Wala naman silang kasalanan," she said.
Kylie also praised AJ's approach to interacting with her kids.
"Alam mo feeling ko, sa mga naririnig ko ha, ano si AJ, parang hindi siya nakiki-discipline din. Sinasabi na lang niya kay Aljur. Mayroon siyang ganoong wisdom and I like that about her. I respect that about her," she said.
Aljur and Kylie married in 2018 and separated in 2021. Aljur and AJ, meanwhile, made their relationship public in 2023.
