Ruffa Gutierrez gives heartfelt update on dad Eddie following recent health scare
Ruffa Gutierrez gave fans a heartfelt update on her father Eddie Gutierrez, following his recent health scare.
On Instagram, the actress said they flew to Singapore thinking he was going to get a spinal procedure. "Instead, an MRI revealed a serious infection," Ruffa said. "Everything changed in an instant."
She didn't anymore disclose what treatment the older Gutierrez received while in the Little Red Dot, but said his "recovery has been nothing short of a miracle."
Ruffa posted a quick Reel bookmarking Eddie's health journey. The first clip was from October 2025, when he was hospitalized "and overwhelmed with pain" and the second was from a dinner, which Ruffa dated December 13, 2025.
"And now look at him last night. He’s eating again. His back pain is easing. He’s watching NBA Laker games. He’s singing Elvis Presley songs once more," she wrote as she exclaimed, "Thank You, Lord!!!"
According to Ruffa, Eddie will fly home for the holidays before returning to Singapore for a two-week visit in January. He is scheduled to fly again in March for yet another procedure.
"Like life itself, we take things day by day," Ruffa said. "As long as there is life, there is hope. We will do everything for our dad."
In her last update on the matter, she made sure to thank everybody who prayed with them and sent their well-wishes.
"Mahigpit na yakap sa lahat ng may pinagdadaanan. You are not alone. Hang in there," she said.
Last week, Eddie, along with his wife Annabel Rama and children Ruffa and Mond, flew to Singapore for a spinal procedure. Shortly after, Ruffa said her father was showing signs of improvement.
The family has mostly been mum about the veteran actor's health, but in October, Ruffa took to Instagram about how her father "hasn't been feeling well."
"I called my mom earlier and she said, 'Mamaya na, Ruffita. Inaasikaso ko pa si Daddy mo,' then hung up," she narrated back then.
"I’ve watched how Mom poured all her time and energy into caring for him," Ruffa added, saying her parents' interaction helped her realize, among other things, that "family is everything."
