Joaquin Arce on stepmom Angel Locsin: 'She's my mentor'

Joaquin Arce could not help but turn emotional after his family requested songs during the housemates' caroling task in "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition."

On Sunday's episode of the reality series, the voice of Angel Locsin, Joaquin's stepmom, was heard requesting "Joy To The World," "Silent Night," and the two original songs composed by the housemates.

As the housemates performed, the Kapamilya housemate saw his family's name flash on the television in front of them: Angel, his father Neil, his mother Sunshine, and his grandmother JLo.

Joaquin held his mom's portrait as he sang and danced and later passed it to Lella Ford.

His family was heard making comments while watching their performance. Angel said she knows two of Joaquin's fellow housemates: Ashley Sarmiento, who played the younger version of her character in a teleserye, and Miguel Vergara, who portrayed her son in a movie.

In the middle of their performance, Neil noticed that Joaquin was tearing up. The housemate greeted his family and expressed his love for them.

In the confession room, Joaquin talked about his family and described Angel as his "mentor."

"Kay Tita Angel po, mentor ko po siya. Though I don't have many projects yet Kuya, I wouldn't be that actor I am today kung hindi niya ako tinuruan," Joaquin said.

Previously, Angel praised Joaquin for his growth while inside Bahay ni Kuya. She also expressed her support for Joaquin when the 18-year-old carried a pile of heavy rule books in his arms as part of punishment for their violations.

Joaquin is the son of film producer Neil Arce, Angel's husband.
