Thea Tolentino shares how Juancho Triviño played cupid in her love story with Martin San Miguel
Thea Tolentino gave fans a glimpse into the beginnings of her romance with Martin San Miguel, crediting close friend Juancho Triviño for helping spark their relationship.
On Tuesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the actress shared that her connection with Martin came through Juancho.
“Actually, 2014 or 2015 pa kami magkakilala ni Martin. Tapos, magkanya-kanya pa kaming relationship. So, meron kami pictures na with our exes. And then, noong 2020, I think, during pandemic, si Juancho at tsaka si Joyce [Pring], nag-double date kami,” Thea said.
Despite the initial connection, their budding romance was put on hold for about a year.
“And then, kasi parang feeling ko noong time na ‘yun, hindi pa ako ready na pumasok sa isang relationship, mag-commit,” she said.
The turning point came in a very modern way: through social media.
After Thea posted a photo following her COVID-19 vaccination, Juancho noticed that Martin liked the post.
“And then, nag-Viber sa akin si Juancho, sabi niya, ‘Message mo na kasi.’ Sabi ko, ‘Ayoko, ayoko, baka mamaya hindi kasi ako mag-commit. Ako ‘yung mapapahiya,’” she said.
Juancho persisted and told Thea to expect a text.
“And then, noong midnight noong araw na ‘yun, nag-message ulit si Martin,” she said.
Thea and Martin got engaged in November.
Thea has been a breadwinner since the beginning of her showbiz career, during her time in GMA Network's talent-search reality show "Protégé" in 2012.
She previously appeared in "Binibining Marikit," "Makiling," "The Half Sisters," "Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters," "Lolong," and more.
