Who is Dr. Reginald Santos? Carla Abellana introduces husband

Carla Abellana opened up about the man behind the title Dr. Reginald Santos, her husband, high school first love, and now a chief medical officer who balances professionalism with a quirky, loving personality.

On Wednesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Kapuso actress talked about their rekindled love story, including what her husband is like as a person.

“Dr. Reginald Santos is my husband. Ang sarap pakinggan. Ang sarap pong sabihin. He's a very private person. Right off the bat, talagang non-showbiz. Very serious. He's a professional. He's a doctor po. He is currently not full-time practicing but he's managing. He's running the hospital that he works at. He's the chief medical officer,” Carla said.

Carla also described him as a “very funny” and “very aspirational” person, adding that while he can sometimes be strict or stern at work, it’s only part of his dedication as a doctor.

“Can be serious at times and strict. Minsan masungit. But pagdating lang naman sa pagiging professional ‘yun as a doctor. Of course, outside of work, he's a very quirky person. Masayahin. Very helpful. Very calm. And very loving,” she said.

The couple’s story goes back to their high school days at O.B. Montessori in Greenhills, where Reginald was three batches ahead of Carla.

“I was in first year and he was in fourth year high school. But we went to the same school. O.B. Montessori in Greenhills. So, yes. First boyfriend. First love. I was in first year. He was in fourth year. So, naging kami po,” she said.

They broke up so he could focus on medical school, a decision Carla described as brave.

“Nagtagal po kami mga more or less two years at that time. Nag-break po kami because he actually had to really focus on his studies kasi, of course, he was serious about med school. So talagang, in all fairness, napaka-brave po niya na kinailangan niya pumili between our relationship and med school,” she said.

Carla and Reginald tied the knot on December 27. In her vows, Carla called him her “first and last” love.

Carla confirmed her engagement with Reginald earlier in December, teasing a photo of her ring-clad hand.

In October, she addressed rumors that she was getting married, saying, "I would like to keep it private."
