David Beckham talks about power of social media, says 'children are allowed to make mistakes'

David Beckham has made his first public engagement since his son, Brooklyn Beckham, released a bombshell statement about their family’s ongoing feud.

In an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” the football legend talked about the power of social media and its role in raising his children.

"I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad," he said.

"What I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, [is to] use it for the right reasons," he added.

David said he has used his social media platform to advance his advocacies, including his partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund.

"I've tried to do the same with my children, to educate them," he said. "They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes.”

“That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well,” he added.

In Brooklyn’s social media statement, the 26-year-old chef alleged that his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, tried to sabotage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, even before they tied the knot in 2022.

He also made it clear in his statement that he has no plans to reconcile with the Beckham family.

Brooklyn is the eldest son of pop star-turned-designer Victoria Beckham and England football legend David Beckham, while Nicola is the daughter of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Heffner.
