Megan Young ends breastfeeding journey: 'See you till the next baby'
Megan Young announced in an Instagram Reel that she has officially ended her breastfeeding journey.
The actress and beauty queen said she was “officially down to one pump a day” and shared clips of her measuring her milk supply, which decreased as the days went on.
Megan then shared why she started weaning from breastfeeding.
“We already came to a point where Leon was drinking 90 percent breastmilk and maybe in a day, just one bottle of formula,” she said. “But since I got dengue in November, my supply completely tanked.”
Megan said she did her best to keep up with her pumps but then she started having work and had to go on a trip to Singapore.
“And even though I was very consistent with my pumps and with eating well, my supply just didn't go back to the way that it used to be,” Megan said.
“I got really frustrated and I was telling [Mikael Daez] how I was having a hard time already,” Megan added. “I was also reminding myself that fed is best, basta may food siya, basta may milk siya whether that's for me or from formula, then I'm happy kasi nakakakuha siya ng milk.”
Megan admitted that she also felt some guilt “that I would not be able to give enough nutrients to Leon.”
“But I knew that for my own mental well-being and for me to get back into the groove of work, that this is what was best for us in our situation.”
She also reminded moms that they know themselves best, and know what is best for them and their baby.
Then when Megan’s last pump was only nine milliliters, she said, “I think it's safe to say we're done. I don't think I'm gonna pump again. See you till the next baby.”
Turning emotional, Megan said breastfeeding has been a “crazy ride.”
