Marjorie Barretto mourns mom Inday’s passing: 'She is now with Dad and my brother Mito'
Marjorie Barretto took to social media to pay tribute to her mother, Inday Barretto, who passed away on January 29 at 89 years old.
On Instagram, Marjorie said that her mom passed away peacefully. It took her a while to post as she was still processing her emotions and making funeral arrangements.
“These feelings were made even more raw by the loss of my brother just four months ago,” Marjorie wrote.
She recounted a quiet, precious moment with her mother at the hospital days before her passing.
“In every trial that comes my way, I have always felt God’s guidance, protection, and grace. I felt His grace most during a quiet afternoon a few days ago at the hospital, when I had my mom all to myself for a couple of hours. Just the two of us. Mom trying her best to be her usual chatty self, speaking more slowly, yet with a mind still clear and sharp. Without me even trying to be funny, she laughed so hard at my stories. That time was priceless,” she said.
Marjorie also described the serenity of the moment when her mother passed.
“But the greatest grace was 2 days after in the morning she passed away. I was in her room with only my sister Michie and Marichi. It was peaceful and quiet. A moment I truly believe God orchestrated and one I will hold close to my heart always,” she said.
She concluded with a message of faith and hope.
“They say we don’t always get closure in life. Knowing God was calling my mom home, I believe He gave me something even greater, the chance to be with her at her bedside, a grace that allowed me to heal.”
Marjorie asked her followers to keep her late mother in their prayers, adding that she is now "with Dad and my brother Mito."
The death of the Barretto matriarch was announced by her son JJ, also known as Joaquin, on social media Thursday afternoon.
Earlier Friday, Claudine thanked all her siblings for taking care of their mother.
Inday's cause of death has not been disclosed, though Claudine had asked for prayers for her mom's health as early as September 2024, when she was hospitalized for lupus.
In the last couple of months of 2025, Inday was in and out of the hospital, with JJ providing health updates of Inday on social media.
Last January 27, he said she will be transferred to the ICU.
