Kate Valdez, Fumiya Sankai break up: ‘There is no bitterness between us’
Kate Valdez and Fumiya Sankai have officially announced their breakup.
After weeks of silence amid breakup speculations, the former couple shared a joint statement, which they posted on their respective Instagram Stories.
“Following considerable thought, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways,” the statement read, adding their decision to break up was “made with respect, understanding, and care for one another.”
“We believe that this step is necessary for our personal growth, as we each need time and space to focus on healing and self-development,” they added.
The former couple also acknowledged the “love, support, and kindness” they received from fans and supporters throughout their relationship.
“Your encouragement has meant so much to us, and we will always carry it with us,” they said.
“There is no bitterness between us, only gratitude for what we shared and hope for what lies ahead,” they added.
Kate and Fumiya also appealed to the public not to send hate or hurtful words, and instead to choose “empathy, respect, and compassion for all involved.”
In late January, Kate unfollowed Fumiya on Instagram and took down their photos together. However, the Japanese vlogger remains one of Kate’s followers.
The two sparked dating rumors in August 2024 after they spent the actress’ birthday in Hong Kong Disneyland.
Since then, they have traveled together to Japan and Taiwan, and delighted fans on their joint TikTok account Onirigi Lovers, which was temporarily deactivated fueling the breakup rumors.
It's back up with the joint statement as its only post.
