Nic Chien pens heartfelt message for mom Lea Salonga on her birthday
Nic Chien wrote the most heartfelt message to pay tribute to his mother, Lea Salonga, on her birthday on February 22.
On Instagram, the theater actor shared photos of himself with Lea through the years, from childhood to the present day.
“I love you so much Momma," wrote Nic in the caption. “I honestly don’t think I could’ve asked for a better momma in the world; and I thank my lucky stars that you ended up being my mom whenever I can.”
Lea has been open about her support for Nic’s transition. In an interview with People magazine, the Tony Award winner shared she has learned that "you have to raise your child the way your child needs to be raised," adding that this goes for "literally any kid."
"As a parent, I want to set my child up for success. I want my child to feel safe and strong and ready to conquer the world on their own terms," she said.
She added, "You have to meet your kid where they are."
Lea and Nic had starred in the Philippine staging of “Into the Woods” in 2025.
Lea is currently part of the cast of “Les Misérables,” while Nic is in The Sandbox Collective's staging of “Spring Awakening.”
