Carlo Aquino shares how marriage changed him; Charlie Dizon, daughter Mithi have a close relationship
Carlo Aquino opened up about how marriage changed him, as well as the close relationship between his wife, Charlie Dizon, and his daughter, Mithi.
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday, the actor shared that marriage has taught him to stand by his decisions.
"Siguro 'yung mga decision ko, napapanindigan ko na. I'm man enough to, ito 'yung gusto ko sa buhay," he said.
He also noted that he is a "makulit" husband to Charlie and how she, in turn, brings out the lightness in him.
“Nilabas nga ni April [Charlie’s real name] ‘yung pagiging light ko,” he shared.
“Sobrang na-appreciate ko sa kanya, pwede akong magsabi sa kanya ng kahit ano, nang walang violent reaction. Tatanggapin niya at ipa-process niya ‘yun," he added.
Carlo likewise described himself as a “makulit” and “very silly” father to Mithi, noting that he wants to be a cool dad but is also strict.
“Kasi gusto ko siyang maging kumportable sa mga tao. Gusto kong hindi siya aloof, ganun,” he said. “Kasi hindi ko alam kung paano sa mom niya pero kung sa akin, makulit ako, sinasabi ko lahat ng gusto ko para ganun din siya sa akin.”
During the interview, Carlo also opened up about Charlie and Mithi’s close relationship.
“Na-appreciate ko si April kasi nag-ri-reach out siya talaga, nilalaro niya, binibigyan niya ng time si Mithi,” he shared. “Tsaka love na love siya. Kapag may video call, siya ‘yung unang hahanapin. ‘Where’s Tita April?’ ‘Really, anak? Not daddy first?’”
Mithi is Carlo's daughter with ex-girlfriend Trina Candaza.
Carlo is starring in “A Special Memory” opposite Bela Padilla. Adapted by National Artist Ricky Lee based on the hit Japanese series “Pure Soul," the story follows Sandra (Bela), a designer diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's.
The film is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 11.
