Carmina Villarroel recalls the time she realized Zoren Legaspi is 'The One'

Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi took a trip down memory lane on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" Thursday and recalled one of the most pivotal times of their relationship: The breakup that made Carmina realize Zoren was the one.

Carmina recalled how they broke up sometime in the '90s. "Nung mag-boyfriend girlfriend pa lang kami, nagkahiwalay kami and then duon ko na-realize na 'oh my gosh, he's the one.' Siya talaga ang gusto ko," Carmina began. 

"It had to happen for me to realize na 'ay ito pala ang gusto ko. Siya pala talaga. Siya yung perfect sa akin," she continued.

According to Carmina, she didn't call Zoren, opting instead to pray and wait. "I had to respect him. Nung time na yun, gusto ko siyang respetuhin duon sa decision niya, sa choice niya. So nag-pray lang ako and nag-wait," she said, adding her husband is really an answered prayer.

But Zoren recalled differently, admitting he gave Carmina space and let her be. "Sabi ko 'sige pababayaan ko muna siya' kasi nung time na yon, para siyang bata. Kailangan niya muna — Parang nakakita siya ng playground, so hayaan mo muna siya sa playground. Let her play. Sa slide, ferris wheel. Nag-e-enjoy siya eh," Zoren said.

He joked, saying he was no longer interested in playgrounds. "Disneyland na ang gusto ko," he said earning hearty laughter from Carmina. 

"Pinabayaan ko siya hanggang sa — yes I guess ikaw yung unhang tumawag," Zoren told Carmina.

When she called him, Zoren invited Carmina to dinner. 

"Sa dinner, hindi ko napigilan, Tito Boy. Nasa steak house kami, kinagat ko siya sa sobrang gigil," Zoren said, adding he did the gesture in front of the restaurant's wait staff.

"Na-miss mo ko?" Carmina asked, teasing him.

"Siguro sa tagal ng pagtitiis," he answered. 

The two got married in a surprise wedding ceremony in November 2012.

By then, they had been together for 12 years and were already parents to twins Mavy and Cassy.

The family are headlining Kapuso Afternoon Prime series “Hating Kapatid.” It will air its final episode on Saturday. — LA, GMA Integrated News
