Rob Sy denies Alfred Vargas' bullying allegations against his son
Actor Rob Sy denied the bullying allegations against his son after Alfred Vargas and his wife Yasmine filed a complaint against him and his partner.
In a statement sent to "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Wednesday, Sy said the Vargas's allegations are false and that they reversed the narrative.
Sy also said that everything will come out at the right time and forum. He asks for everybody's understanding and to stop the judgment while the real and complete story has not yet been revealed.
In an Instagram post, Sy said that he and his partner would face the complaint filed at the Manila Prosecutor's Office.
Labis na ang paninira," he said. "Ipaglalaban po namin ang katotohanan."
"Fast Talk" reached out to Vargas for a response, but he declined to comment as he and his wife had already filed the complaint.
In a previous statement, Vargas said Sy and his partner violated the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and failed in their legal duty under the Family Code to supervise and discipline their child.
One of the incidents allegedly happened during a swimming competition in February. Vargas said Sy's child pushed his son at the side area of the pool during warm-ups and nearly caused an injury.
The actor and Quezon City councilor said the alleged bullying incidents occurred despite "efforts, reminders, and appeals" he and Yasmine made to Sy and his partner to tell their child to stop.
"Bilang ama, may isang bagay na hindi mo kayang tiisin: ang makita ang anak mo na inaapi," he said. "Hindi ito simpleng 'away ng bata.' Hindi ito bagay na dapat palampasin."
"Bullying is not normal. It is not harmless. It is not acceptable.
According to Atty. Gaby Concepcion of "Unang Hirit," parents may be held accountable for their children's actions when bullying occurs beyond school premises and outside school-supervised activities. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
