The Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson drama: From 'meet-cute' to public fallout

Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson have parted ways, and the breakup is far from amicable.

Over the past few days, Megan has been posting about her anger and heartbreak online, citing “trust, infidelity, and respect” as the reason for their split.

Here’s a timeline of how their relationship unfolded and how it fell apart.

July 9, 2025 - Dating speculations begin

Speculation first sparked after Megan posted poolside photos on Instagram.

Fans noticed a man in the background whom many believed was Klay, but as of this writing, the image has been removed from the carousel.

Just days later, Klay posted a photo with a woman whose face wasn’t visible.

Fans noticed similarities to Megan, including matching Barbie-pink nails seen in her own posts.

July 16, 2025 - First public appearance together

Megan and Klay appeared together at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City, an event hosted by Megan’s nonprofit.

In an interview with People, Megan confirmed their relationship and shared a glimpse into how they met.

“Oh, we met, and it was such a meet-cute. It was like a fucking movie. I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but it was a movie,” she said.

Megan added that Klay is “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”

Relationship milestones

Throughout their relationship, the couple frequently showed support for each other.

Megan reportedly cooked for Klay and his family, attended his games, and celebrated milestones together.

According to People, Klay gifted Megan a blue Bentley for her 31st birthday in February.

April 25, 2026 - The split

On April 25, Megan hinted at trouble in a now-viral Instagram Story, where she accused her partner of cheating and emotional strain.

“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house...got ‘cold feet,’” she wrote. “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don't know if you can be ‘monogamous’????”

On the same day, Megan became emotional during a performance of Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge!” in New York City, tearing up during the curtain call.

In her statement to E! News, Megan officially confirmed the breakup.

“I've made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” she said. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward.”

Megan said that she is taking this time to prioritize herself and “move ahead with peace and clarity.”

April 26, 2026 - Lexie Brown denies involvement

As speculation swirled online following Megan’s accusations, WNBA player Lexie Brown addressed rumors linking her to the situation.

Lexie took to Instagram Stories to shut down the claims.

“I’ve seen what’s being said online, and I want to be clear, none of it is true, and I have no involvement in this situation,” she wrote.

“This week marks the start of an important and exciting new season for me, and my focus is fully on that.”

On Tuesday, Megan announced that she will conclude her “Moulin Rouge!” stint on May 1.

“It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater!” she said.

According to Billboard, Megan was originally scheduled to perform in the show through May 17.
