Bela Padilla says uncle Robin Padilla's 'political affiliation has nothing to do with my personal beliefs and convictions'
Bela Padilla took to Twitter on Thursday to clarify her relationship with her uncle, Senator Robin Padilla, saying "we manage to agree to disagree."
"Growing up, my Tito Robin was kind to me and my family. I will be forever grateful for this," she began.
But life took them on different paths "and our personal encounters have become scarcer."
According to Bela, until last Friday when they shared the same call time, the last time she saw her uncle was three years ago.
"My uncle's political affiliation has nothing to do with my personal beliefs and convictions," said Bela, who acknowledged that their "ideologies are also different."
"We are related but we manage to agree to disagree," she continued.
Recognizing Robin's kindness, Bela said she remains grateful "but I also maintain an independent and personal sense of being in charge of my career, choices, and convictions."
Bela released a statement "because of recent events, and since I'm being asked daily," especially after Robin was cast in a show she is headlining.
Per Bela, she had no hand nor influence in his "recent addition to the show."
"This is purely the prerogative of the executive and supervising producers of the show," she added.
As of Friday morning, the National Bureau of Investigation director Melvin Mating said Robin is a "person of interest" in Bato dela Rosa's whereabouts, after the latter sneaked out of the Senate building early Thursday morning following a ruckus that included gunshots.
Dela Rosa has an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
Because of recent events, and since I’m being asked daily, I wish to express my thoughts on the issue surrounding the casting of my uncle in Blood vs Duty, and the current situation hounding the Senate.
