Carol Banawa announces mom's death due to cancer
Carol Banawa took to social media to announce the death of her mother, Cirila Banawa.
On Instagram, the US-based Filipina singer said her mom passed away on the night of May 16 while surrounded by “the people who loved her most.”
“Our hearts are broken, and we already miss her more than words can ever express,” Carol wrote.
In her emotional tribute, she described her mother as someone who could “light up a room simply with her presence” and said they would deeply miss her “laughter, stories, warmth, and the love she freely gave to everyone around her.”
Carol also remembered her mother as someone who had “one of the kindest hearts.”
“No matter what she went through, her trust and faith in God never wavered,” she said.
“She carried herself with so much grace, strength, and love, and she touched so many lives because of it,” she added.
In her tribute, Carol assured her mother that their family would be okay, saying they were raised with “so much love, strength, faith, and resilience.”
“So this is not goodbye. Until we all see each other again,” she said. “Please give Papa and Kuya the biggest hug from all of us.”
Just last Friday, Carol wrote a letter for her mom while she was battling cancer.
"I know I have to keep going. Kailangan naming kayanin ni Ate, because our families will need us too — just as we once needed you,” she said.
