Jelai Andres says she has forgiven ex-husband Jon Gutierrez

Jelai Andres opened up about her marriage and annulment with her ex-husband, Jon Gutierrez.

On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday, the vlogger was asked if she had already forgiven Jon and herself.

“Yes, Tito Boy,” Jelai answered. “Nagpatawad ako kasi kailangan."

She added that in previous interviews, she would say she has forgiven Jon, but “hindi pala.”

“So kailangan patawarin ko sarili ko. Nag-repent ako. Tito Boy, uma-attend ako ng mga seminar pang Christians and Catholics,” she said. “Dun ko ni-repent na patawarin Mo ako Lord kasi ginanto ko ‘yung sarili ko.”

“Dun ko naramdaman na nakapagpatawad na kasi hindi na ‘ko galit, Tito Boy, nawala na lang siya bigla. Nawala na ‘yung galit, ‘yung pain. Tanggap ko na. Na-accept ko na na ito ‘yung nangyari. Okay na. Buti na lang naghiwalay kami."

Jelai recalled that she was unhappy before, but has now found stable happiness after becoming single.

She also said on "Fast Talk" that an annulment was only something she dreamed of at first.

“Parang second life ko na po ‘to, Tito Boy. Kasi napagdaanan ko na po ‘yung depression, ‘yung anxiety,” Jelai said as she turned emotional.

She wished that young girls would not experience what she went through, “kasi sobrang hirap, baka hindi niya kayanin, Tito Boy.”

“Alam mo ‘yung parang buhay ka pero namatay ka nang ulit. Ganun po kahirap,” Jelai said. “’Yung pure na pure ka, tapos parang lahat ng bumabalik, hindi mo deserve.”

She also experienced pain as she was not sure the annulment would be granted. Per Jelai, the process took five years, and she spent around a million pesos on it.

During the annulment process, Jelai shared that she and Jon would greet each other, but that they never had a conversation. She also noted that there was anger at first.

“Hindi kami magkaaway kasi hindi kami nag-aaway. Hindi rin kami bati, Tito Boy,” Jelai said. “Hindi na ‘ko galit.”

According to Jelai, a major factor in the end of their relationship was Jon’s constant cheating.

Early this month, Jelai revealed in her YouTube vlog that she has been officially annulled from Jon. In the latter part of the vlog, Jelai said she is overjoyed after working on the annulment for years.

“Masaya ako kasi, finally, nawala na sa mundo ‘yung kasal,” she had said. “’Yung annulment, kasama sa prayers ko.”

Jelai and Jon got together in 2015 and got married in 2018. A year later, they broke up, got back together in 2020, and officially separated in 2021. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA News
