Meryll Soriano on dad Willie Revillame running for Senate in 2025: 'Nalungkot din ako'

Meryll Soriano looked back on her dad, TV host Willie Revillame’s, stint as a senatorial candidate in the 2025 midterm election.

On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Tuesday, the actress shared that her father had reflected on the decision.

“Nasagot na rin naman niya na ‘to sa kanyang sariling pag-iisip kasi it’s something na he doesn’t know, he doesn’t know well,” Meryll said.

“He was never confident. I mean, people have been trying to tell him tumakbo ka, makakatulong ka. And I think he’s very smart to understand na hindi niya ‘yun forte."

According to Meryll, she was saddened by Willie’s decision to run for senator as she was worried about him.

“So nung tumakbo siya, syempre parang nalungkot din ako kasi parang, kakayanin ba niya ‘yung stress? I mean, it’s a completely different world,” she said. “Iniisip ko rin syempre ‘yung health niya, ‘yung magiging buhay niya, magiging buhay naming mga anak niya.”

“Mabait talaga ‘yung Diyos sa kanya na hindi siya nanalo because he’s set out to do other things where he’s more than capable to help,” she added.

Willie performed well in election surveys, but was also the recipient of criticism. Per Meryll, she “definitely didn’t read” the comments critical of her dad.

Willie was among those who ran for a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm election. He was an independent candidate. He placed 22nd in the Senate polls.

Meryll is one of the stars of the upcoming Cinemalaya 2026 film, “2 Valid IDs,” top-billed by Pokwang.
