Iya Villania shares son Leon’s first heartbreak over a dog: 'I didn’t realize how attached he got'

Iya Villania took to social media to share how her second son, Leon, experienced his first heartbreak after not being able to adopt the dog he wanted.

On Instagram, Iya shared a video of a crying Leon lying on her thighs during a visit to a pet shop.

According to Iya, she and her husband, Drew Arellano, decided to finally allow him to adopt a dog as his older brother Primo is turning 10.

As they are still in the process of preparing their home to become pet-friendly, Iya said their family started making weekly visits to a pet shop to check on Primo’s chosen dog. He had already named him Kobe.

“But with those visits, both Leon and I found ourselves growing fond of other cuties that were there!” she said.

“I loved getting cuddles from Tanya (the one I’m holding) while Leon got attached to Annie, who would always seek his attention when he’d walk away,” she added.

During one particular visit, another client asked to see Annie, and that was when Leon “started to feel nervous," Iya narrated.

It was when the client decided on Annie "that led to this moment."

“I didn’t realize how attached he got from the two visits he had with Annie until I saw him really getting the feels,” she added.

Iya admitted that she initially thought Leon was being “silly and dramatic.”

“But I’m reminded that as crazy as this boy is, so is his ability to love,” she said. “Oh anak, wait until you fall in love with a human.”

Iya also recalled a special moment between Primo and Leon, when the former tried to comfort the latter over Annie.

“It was special seeing how Primo got affected [by] his brother’s heartbreak too and tried consoling him with a story of how he also didn’t get the dog he first wanted,” Iya said.

“He’s not fond of letting Leon hug him, but in this moment, he allowed him to,” she added.

Iya and Drew got married in January 2014, and they have been together since 2004. Aside from Primo and Leon, the couple has three more children: Alana, Astro, and Anya.
