These are the violations Ma Mon Luk committed, according to QC LGU
The famous Ma Mon Luk restaurant on Quezon Avenue committed sanitary and business permit violations leading to its temporary closure, the Quezon City Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) said.
The closure order on the restaurant was based on the recommendation of the QC Health Department (QCHD) and the establishment’s non-compliance with the QC BPLD’s directives.
“Based on the QCHD Inspection Report dated 29 May 2026, Ma Mon Luk remained in violation of PD 856 or the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines. The report recommended the revocation of the establishment's Sanitary Permit and that the previous recommendation for the issuance of a Cease and Desist Order remain in effect,” the QC BLPD said in an email response to GMA News Online.
Moreover, the BLPD said the restaurant failed to renew its Mayor’s Permit.
“Further, verification conducted on 25 August 2026 disclosed that the establishment continued to operate despite the Cease and Desist Order implemented on 28 April 2026,” the city government department said.
Ma Mon Luk has been in operation for several decades with its first branch in Binondo and later expanded to other parts of Metro Manila. It offers Chinese food, but Ma Mon Luk is best known for its mami and siopao.
Netizens were surprised after the sudden temporary closure of its only existing branch in Quezon Avenue last month.
In a Facebook post last September 18, the restaurant confirmed that it’s temporarily closed and will be back soon.
“The Closure Order shall remain in effect until the establishment has sufficiently complied with the directives of this Department and other concerned offices,” the QC BPLD said.
GMA News Online reached out multiple times to Ma Mon Luk for a comment but has yet to receive a response as of posting.
